With 2019 coming to an end, Calgary West Little League would like to take a moment to recognize Kevin Gerla for his contributions and dedication to the League. At our November Annual General Meeting, Kevin formally announced his resignation from the President role after 5 successful years.
Kevin has always been known for exemplary hard work and commitment to the league, and he and his wife Shannon have spent countless hours to ensure Cal West was successful.   Since 2014, Kevin led the league through a significant growth phase where registration essentially doubled and Cal West become one of largest little leagues in Canada. Over the last 3 consecutive years, Cal West has had over 1000 registered players, which required tremendous efforts from our volunteer Board and Executive to deliver a fun and competitive institution with progressive improvements in player and coach development, fields and maintenance, and overall financial health.
Kevin has coached numerous teams in Cal West spring and summer (All Star) seasons, and developed many great ball players including his own two sons. This year Kevin coached the Major AAA team to the semi-finals at Nationals in Ancaster Ontario.
We will continue to look to Kevin for guidance and mentoring as we start 2020 with many new Board/Executive assignments. Thank you Kevin for laying a solid foundation to build on and continue to deliver excellent youth baseball.
